Meet Mabel
Mabel Martinez knows what it means to start over. Born in the Dominican Republic, she came to the United States in 1978 with a single dream — to build a safer, more dignified life for her family. She built that life through resilience, faith, and an unshakeable belief that every person deserves to be heard.
After navigating a painful divorce and healing from domestic violence, Mabel didn't retreat. She turned her pain into purpose — becoming a mother, a grandmother, an advocate, and a voice for the voiceless across Rhode Island.
Through her work with DARE, she fought for fair housing, mental health resources, and the rights of families. She was honored with the Alice Hicks Love, Peace, and Justice Award in 2006. Now, she brings that same determination to serve as your next Lieutenant Governor.
She is also the author of three children's books, a reflection of her love for education, storytelling, and nurturing the next generation.
Now, Mabel is ready to bring that same compassion, integrity, and determination to serve as your next Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island.
" I know what if feels like to be silenced, and I know the strength it takes to rebuild. My faith taught me that leadership isn't about power. It's about serving others with compassion and purpose."
Her platform
Expand statewide funding for survivor shelters and crisis programs. Strengthen partnerships between law enforcement, advocates, and healthcare professionals. Make prevention and awareness a priority in every school and workplace across Rhode Island.
Champion affordable housing and fair development policies. Protect tenants and expand housing access for survivors and single parents who have nowhere else to turn.
Increase access to counseling and community-based mental health services. Invest in trauma-informed care and family support programs. Integrate healing and wellness into statewide health initiatives so no Rhode Islander faces their struggles alone.
Support women and minority owned small businesses. Create job readiness and training programs that prepare Rhode Islanders for modern industries. Promote fair wages and protections for every worker.
Governance that listens first. Policies built with the community, not handed down to it. A Lieutenant Governor who shows up, in the room, at the table, and on your street.
Why Mabel
Mabel has spent her life serving Rhode Islanders. From supporting survivors of domestic violence to advocating for fair housing and mental health resources, she understands the struggles families face, because she has lived them. She doesn't just talk about change. She has spent decades creating it.
Mabel believes every voice matters. She engages with communities across Rhode Island through listening sessions, town halls, and direct partnerships, because real leadership starts with hearing people, not talking over them.
Guided by faith, Mabel leads with integrity, compassion, and accountability. She believes public service is a sacred responsibility - to protect, to empower, and to uplift every Rhode Islander regardless of background or circumstance.
Mabel comes with a real record and a clear plan. Ending violence before it starts. Housing for every family. Mental health care for every community. Economic opportunity for every worker. Not promises - a roadmap.
